Mrs. DoucetteNovember 2007
Students have been very busy for the past month working on songs and choreography for "A Holiday Moosical". It's sure to be a pleaser. Costume letters should have gone home Monday, Oct. 22. If you didn't get your letter, contact me. Students are also learning to sing our National Anthem (with more patriotic songs to follow) and kids' silly songs. I was surprised to find out how many children have never been exposed to these. We are also learning new music vocabulary words and some solfege to improve our ability to hear and sing on pitch. Incorporated into all the above is some movement and music theory. Many students took advantage of the private music lessons offered and are doing quite well. Please remind your child to practice a few minutes everyday…it makes such a difference. Studies have proven the effectiveness of any kind of music study in a student's life. The most important element is music's effect on both sides of the brain which in turn helps students be better students in all other subjects.
