The Mock Town Meeting |

For the eighth grade, the mock town meeting is more involved than just going and voting on articles proposed by the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. As 8th graders we also have the responsibility of campaigning and holding different town positions. These positions are voted by the students in the middle school, after the candidates go to the different classes to say a speech about why they should be elected. During the meeting, (which is run by an eighth grade student chosen by the middle school team) the students who were voted to hold these positions sit in the front of the room making the meeting more like a real town meeting. |

The
Seventh graders voted in the Mock Town Meeting as well as the rest of the
middle schoolers. Who ran the meeting? The eighth graders! Seventh grade
only voted, but in the election few seventh graders were at the check in
and check out desk. The rest of them voted for eighth graders running for
the positions such as Police Chief, School board, selectmen, ETC. So you
see, the seventh grade hasn’t had much on their hands, but next year
will be a different story.

Grade 6 and Mock Town Meeting |
| By Ashton |

Hi,
I’m going to tell you about our mock town and school meeting from the 6th
grade point of view. When we first found out about it, most of us were confused about what it was.
Then our teacher, Mrs. Jensen, told us about it and we started writing up articles to go in the
meetings.
When were done, we had to write up persuasive arguments for any articles we wanted.
In
a couple of weeks we had the meeting and we got to speak our opinions and
vote for what we wanted.
It was very fun.
